Dr. Bader is a bit eccentric, but overall a terrific teacher and person. I enjoy his class, but there were occasions where he was ill-prepared or wan not effective in explaining course material.

Synthetic biology is an exciting new field, but so recent that there is no standard curriculum or text. This course is unique in teaching the field by enlisting students in an international project to create a yeast cell with fully synthetic DNA, which will be the first living eukaryotic cell with a synthetic genome.
